Information about consultation fees, payment expectations, Medicare billing, missed appointments, and other account-related policies at High Street Family Practice.

Patient Fees

High Street Family Practice follows the Medicare Benefits Schedule, which outlines consultation item numbers based on the length and complexity of the appointment.

Patients are encouraged to speak with reception if they have questions about fees, appointment types, or payment options.

Late Payment Fee

Any account that isn't paid on the day will incur a $10 fee.

Payment Due

All payments are expected to be paid in full on the day of service. Payment is the patient's responsibility.

Patients Under 18

If a patient is younger than 18 years of age, we require a parent or guardian to be responsible for the account and payment.

Payment Methods

We accept cash, Visa, Mastercard, and EFTPOS.

Script-Only Requests

Script-only requests are managed through a telephone consultation.

These consultations may be bulk billed if the required consent is completed.

A prescription token can be sent to the patient’s mobile device or faxed to a pharmacy of choice. Patients are encouraged to allow enough time between script requests to avoid running out of medication.

Important Information for Patients

Policies to help ensure a smooth visit and quality care for all our patients.

Bulk Billing

Children under the age of 16 and aged pensioners over 67 are bulk billed for standard consultations.

Other Fees

For any other procedures or consultations not listed, please speak to our reception staff.

Medicare Benefits Schedule

High Street Family Practice adheres to the Medicare Benefits Schedule, which stipulates the length of time spent on consultations.

Appointment Length

Consultation fees are based on appointment length. Please let reception know when booking if a longer appointment is required.

PAYMENT POLICY

Payment and Account Information

Patients are responsible for payment of services provided. Fees are payable on the day of consultation unless otherwise arranged with the practice.

Please keep the practice informed of any changes to your name, address, phone number, or other relevant details.

For questions, special circumstances, or assistance with fees and payments, patients can speak with reception.

Outstanding Accounts

We have a strict 7-day policy. Any account that exceeds 7 days will be followed up by our accounts department via telephone or letter.

Failure to pay after contact:
The patient’s file will be made inactive and no further appointments will be offered until the debt has been cleared.

Accounts unpaid after 30 days:
The debt will be referred to a debt collector.

Missed Appointment Policy

A $50 fee applies for missed appointments not cancelled with at least 3 hours’ notice. These charges are the patient’s responsibility and will be billed directly.

Patients who fail to attend 3 consecutive appointments may be unable to make future appointments at High Street Family Practice.

Please help us to serve you better by keeping your regularly scheduled appointment or advising reception if you are unable to attend.

Non-Covered Services

Please be aware that some of the services you receive may not be covered or not considered reasonable or necessary by Medicare or other insurers.

You must pay for these services in full at the time of visit.

WORKERS COMPENSATION CLAIMS

Workers Compensation & Motor Accident Claims

If your visit is work-related

If your visit is related to an injury or illness suffered at work, or an automobile accident, please inform our receptionist immediately.

Billing

Any account for an approved workers compensation or MAIB claim will be directly billed to the insurer.

Patient Responsibility

It is the responsibility of the patient to inform us of any changes to the plan or policy.

Rejected Claims

If a dispute has been made on a workers compensation claim and is rejected by the tribunal, it is the patient's responsibility to pay all outstanding accounts from the date of rejection.
