What can a Dietitian (APD) do for you?
A qualified APD can assist you with any nutrition queries or concerns from daily food requirements for children, adults, pregnancy/lactation and elderly, weight loss/gain, food intolerance to specific dietary advice for disease. Dietitians often work within a medical/health team and use medical nutrition therapy to ensure you are provided with scientifically proven guidelines and recommendations.
What to expect at your appointment
During your initial consultation with Sharon she will listen to your needs and go over your health and medical history and any referrals you may have from other health practitioners. She will then discuss with you current food intake, health, lifestyle, family, work and if relevant may take measurements. We may work on setting goals together and discuss ongoing support. A letter may be sent to your GP discussing your care-plan.
A review appointment is often set to discuss your progress towards your goals, any difficulties in fulfilling them and methods to overcome these and of course celebrating your success. We are here to support and guide you and help you stay motivated.
